PTFE (TFE) and Kynar are both on allocation.
PTFE - Polytetrafluoroethylene products, PTFE (TFE) and PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The worldwide interest in this mineral has risen significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and really low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is used throughout dozens of purposes from non-stick fry pans to ptfe tape for home use. This specific mineral is the essential raw materials within the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and lots of refrigerants. This increased demand coupled with general shortage of raw materials is responsible for a dramatic price increase (almost double over the last year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to keep at it in the near future.
